Prince Harry was the guest of honour at the Salute to Freedom Gala on Wednesday night, hosted at New York’s Intrepid Museum, the day before the US celebrates Veterans Day. The gala “recognises extraordinary leadership and honours the brave men and women who serve in defence of our nation”.

       Royal Commentator Omid Scobie tweeted: “The Sussexes arrive at @IntrepidMuseum’s #SaluteToFreedom gala in NYC where Prince Harry is presenting Intrepid Valor Awards to five service members, veterans and military families living with invisible wounds of war.

       “As the couple arrived, they met with some of the recipients.”

       The tweet continued: “For those asking, support from the gala helps the non-profit @IntrepidMuseum offer educational experiences to over 50,000 students each year and provide programs to help veterans reintegrate into civilian life, build connection and community, and address mental health.”

       Meghan wore a daring red gown by Carolina Herrera with coordinating heels by Giuseppe Zanotti and both the Duke and Duchess of Sussex wore a red poppy.

       According to People, as the couple walked down the red carpet, a reporter asked Meghan if she's proud of her husband for presenting at the ceremony.

       “I'm always proud of him,” the Duchess replied.

       Prince Harry, who served in the army for 10 years, presented the inaugural Intrepid Valor Awards to five service members, veterans and military families.

       The celebration of the dedication of military personnel comes as the Royal Family prepares to mark Remembrance Day on Thursday, and Remembrance Sunday over the weekend.

       Harry’s grandmother, the Queen, still “intends” to head up the Royal Family’s tributes at the Cenotaph in Whitehall on Remembrance Day on Sunday, despite recent cancellations to her royal engagements.
