The EU has also accused Belarus leader Alexander Lukashenko of provoking the crisis but he denies claims they are sending people over the border for revenge over the Brussels bloc’s sanctions. The crisis has propelled into an international issue with German Chancellor Angela Merkel urging Russia's Vladamir Putin to use his influence to intervene, labelling the Belarusian efforts to exploit migrants “inhuman and completely unacceptable."
