Nearly 50 cases of the Delta variant detected in Malaysia as of Thursday (Nov 11)

       PETALING JAYA: A total of 48 new Delta variant Covid-19 cases were detected in the country on Thursday (Nov 11).

       Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that out of these cases, 34 were from Penang, 12 were from Pahang and two were from Perlis.

       "This brings the total number of Delta cases detected in the country to 3,570. The cumulative number of Beta variant cases is 226 whereas there were a total of 14 Alpha variant cases," he said in a statement.

       Meanwhile, Dr Noor Hisham said as of Thursday (Nov 11), a total of four new clusters were identified, bringing the tally to 288 active clusters in Malaysia.

       "Out of the four new clusters, three were workplace clusters and one was from an educational institution. Another 6,323 new Covid-19 cases were recorded for a cumulative total of 2,528,821,” said Dr Noor Hisham.

       "Out of the 6,323 new Covid-19 cases, 25 are imported cases and 6,298 are local cases.A total of 97 patients fall under Categories 3, 4 and 5 whereas there are 6,226 cases under Categories 1 and 2,” he added.

       Dr Noor Hisham also said that 5,337 patients have recovered from Covid-19.

       "There are 538 cases that needed ICU care and 274 cases that need respiratory assistance," he said.
