TWO former soldiers smashed into a war memorial garden with a tank they hired to mark Remembrance Day.
Local councillor Mark Fearn and ex-mayor Andy Langdon splashed out £950 on the eight-ton Scimitar for the stunt.

The hapless pair drove the machine to the war memorial in Bollington, Cheshire, on Thursday.

A villager said: “It was like something out of Dad’s Army.”
Mr Fearn posted on Facebook: “Oops. A bit embarrassed.”
He added: “I will be making a personal donation to RBL.”
The Royal British Legion is investigating. A spokesman added: “It is entirely inappropriate.”
