ALOR SETAR: Seventy-three individuals, including 43 civil servants were detained in the state for offences related to corruption and false claims so far this year.
Kedah Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) director, Datuk Shaharom Nizam Abd Manap said the others were private sector employees (three) and civilians (27).
"We have received 175 tip-offs on the offences so far this year, which is a decline from 349 tip-offs received last year, and 44 investigation papers opened for various offences.
"Thirty-two cases have been charged in court including involving Section 17(b) and Section 16(a)(B) of the MACC Act 2009,” he said when met at the Kedah MACC Appreciation Ceremony here on Wednesday (Nov 17). - Bernama
