JOHOR BARU: The state government has allocated RM4mil as a special incentive to tourism industry players in an effort to revive the state’s tourism industry next year.
Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad said from the amount, RM621,000 would be given to 621 tour guides and RM414,000 to 207 budget hotel operators.
He added RM372,000 would be given to 186 tour agencies, RM233,000 to 232 chalet operators and RM82,000 to 82 tour boat operators.
“We have also allocated RM320,000 to the Johor Tourism Association and RM100,000 as a special initiative for business events to be held here,” he said during the unveiling of the state’s Budget 2022 here on Thursday (Nov 18).
Hasni added that RM400,000 would also be allocated to upgrade the Tourism Johor office here and another RM2mil to intensify promotional activities both locally and abroad.
“All these are among the many initiatives under Majestic Johor to boost tourism in the state,” he added.
On another note, Hasni also announced almost 20,000 e-hailing drivers, taxi drivers and those delivering food would receive a one-off payment of RM100 to RM150 under an assistance initiative next year.
He said that some RM2.7mil has been allocated for this programme.
