KUALA LUMPUR: Two more Caucasian women are being sought by police for not wearing face masks in public.

The incident was highlighted by an angry social media user who took to Twitter, asking the authorities where was the law when it came to such offenders.

Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Noor Dellhan Yahaya said police detected the tweet on Wednesday (Nov 17).

"The social media user uploaded a picture of the two women walking in public without wearing masks. Our checks revealed the picture was taken along a pedestrian walkway at (a park in the city centre)," he said in a statement on Wednesday.

He added that Dang Wangi CID has opened an investigation paper into the incident.

"We are investigating the case under Section 21A of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1998 as well as Rule 17 (1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulations (measures within an infected area)," he said.

"We will investigate the case and refer the investigation paper to the deputy public prosecutor's office for further action," added ACP Noor Dellhan.

ACP Noor Dellhan urged the public to always comply with the standard operating procedures (SOP).

"We will not hesitate to take action against anyone found violating the SOP," he said.

This the third time Caucasian women have come under fire for not complying with the SOP's in place.

In October, two videos of a woman went viral, both of them showing her not wearing a face mask as required.

In the first video, she was prevented from entering a luxury boutique for not wearing a face mask.

In the second video, she was similarly denied entry to another shopping centre in Kuala Lumpur for the same reason.

Internet users dubbed her as "Karen" – a generic term used to describe entitled white women – and she became a top trending topic on social media.

The woman was issued two compound notices totalling RM3,000 for the violations.
