KLANG: A Proton X70 belonging to a Customs officer was believed to have been set on fire at a car wash in Taman Pandamaran Permai here.
It was learnt that the vehicle was sent to the car wash for polishing before it was set ablaze.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department operations control centre chief Zulkifar Jaffas said they received a call about the incident at 11.03am on Thursday (Nov 18).
"A fire engine and eight firemen were dispatched to the scene.
"They arrived 11 minutes later and began operations to put out the flames," he said in a statement.
He said the vehicle was destroyed in the fire while the roof of the car wash shop sustained some damage.
"There were no casualties involved and we believe this is a case of mischief by fire," he said.
Meanwhile, South Klang OCPD Cha Hoong Fong, when contacted, confirmed investigations were underway.
"Investigations are underway and we have some clues over the case.
"The car was the same vehicle that was splashed with paint recently," he said.
