NINE karate exponents who represented the country in international competitions and won numerous medals will be honoured in a special ceremony hosted by an academy, Makkal Osai reported.
Kedah Mawashi-geri Karate Academy chairman and trainer Suresh Mariappan said the students took part in competitions which were organised by associations in India, Sri Lanka, Japan, the United States, Mexico, Brazil, Oman and China.
The academy will host the award ceremony in Sungai Petani tomorrow with all the exponents’ parents in attendance.
The exponents, who are from Kuala Muda, Alor Setar and Kota Setar districts, brought home several gold, silver and bronze medals, making the state and the country proud, he added.
Lembaga Zakat Negeri Kedah Nahim Islam will launch the ceremony while Kuala Muda youth sports department official Shahril Hassan will be in attendance, Suresh said.
