Authorities said a 45-year-old man has been arrested and charged in a fatal pedestrian crash in Alexandria.

       The crash happened Saturday evening on West Glebe Road, near Mount Vernon Avenue. Police said Roy Saravia Alvarez of Alexandria was struck by a car and pronounced dead at the scene.

       On Thursday, Alexandria police said that the car’s driver, Fredy Ortiz-Dominguez of Hyattsville, turned himself in to authorities after a warrant for involuntary manslaughter had been issued for his arrest.

       He’s being held at the Alexandria Detention Center without bail, police said, and it was not immediately known if he had a lawyer.

       The case remains under investigation.
