SIBU: A new political party, Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) has been formed, with Julau MP Larry Sng elected as its deputy president.
In a three-minute video, Engga Unchat, one of the party's supreme council members, said PBM was set up following a name change from Sarawak Worker's Party (SWP).
"I was the president of SWP until its name was changed to Parti Bangsa Malaysia. I, together with the secretary-general Lavenia Mawas and all SWP supreme council members agreed to step down to form PBM," he said.
Unchat said PBM was approved by ROS on Oct 27 and it had an extraordinary general meeting on Nov 14.
"Lavenia and I were elected as ordinary members of the supreme council," he added.
As a national party, he said its membership is open to all Malaysians.
However, Unchat did not state who would head the party.
