TAX cuts are coming soon, Boris Johnson has vowed — as he scrambled to get his wobbly week back on track.

The PM told a room full of billionaire Tory donors last night: “We will cut your taxes?.?.?.?soon.”

It came hours after Boris’ key lieutenant Lord Frost publicly sided with Chancellor Rishi Sunak in pleas to slash the tax burden.

The PM saw off one of the roughest days of his premiership with a star turn at the Tories’ winter fund-raiser for rich party backers.

He used the £1,500-a-ticket bash at London’s V&A museum to turn fire on the BBC.

In a dig at the Beeb, he said: “If any other government had announced £96billion of new trains, the BBC would have canonised them.”

Mr Johnson attempted to get back on track after his speech to the CBI was derailed by his Peppa Pig outburst.

His spokesman yesterday came out swinging against claims BoJo has lost his mojo, telling reporters he is physically “well” after suffering from a cold last week.

And No10 insisted Mr Johnson “is very much focused on delivering for the public”.

Quizzed about Lord Frost’s surprising plea for tax cuts and his name-checking Mr Sunak as a key driver of the calls, they gently slapped down the Brexit boss.

The spokesman said of his speech, “he was very much echoing comments from both the PM and the Chancellor”.

Last night one Tory minister said: “It was a good speech, but we will believe the tax cuts when we see them. It’s always jam tomorrow.”
