JOHOR BARU: The overland Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) between Johor Baru and Singapore starting Nov 29 is only for fully vaccinated travellers on express buses, with an initial limit of 1,500 individuals per day.

       Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that the launch of the VTL-Land will coincide with the VTL-Air that will further enhance bilateral and economic relations between both countries.

       "Apart from workers, the VTL-Land will provide an opportunity for Malaysians and Singaporeans on both sides of the Causeway who have been separated from their families due to the Covid-19 pandemic, to be reunited with their loved ones," he added.

       Sabri said that both governments have also agreed for a daily limit not exceeding 1,500 travellers initially, with weekly increments.

       He added that designated VTL-Land bus services will use the Larkin Sentral Bus Terminal in Malaysia and the Queen Street Terminal (QST) in Singapore as the boarding and disembarkation points respectively.

       It was earlier announced that Malaysia and Singapore would reopen their mutual border with a special VTL-Air between the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and Changi Airport on Nov 29.

       Under the VTL, fully-vaccinated travellers will be able to travel between Singapore and Malaysia and be subjected to Covid-19 tests in lieu of serving quarantine or a stay-at-home notice.

       The joint border has been closed since March 18, 2020.

       Travellers coming into Malaysia using the VTL-Land need to register at mysafetravel.gov.my while travellers from Malaysia to Singapore are required to register at go.gov.sg/vtl-portal.

       This registration is compulsory before any ticket purchases are made.
