KLANG: All five men, who were detained for their alleged involvement in throwing paint and setting a vehicle belonging to a Customs Department officer ablaze, have been freed on police bail on Monday (Nov 22).

South Klang OCPD Asst Comm Cha Hoong Fong said however, one of the suspects was rearrested before being handed over to North Klang police to assist another investigation.

"We had applied to extend the remand for the suspects but our application was rejected by the courts, thus we freed them on police bail.

"The investigation paper will be forwarded to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for further action," he told a press conference on Thursday (Nov 25).

Last Thursday (Nov 18), five men were detained in connection with allegedly setting ablaze a car belonging to a Customs officer at Taman Pandamaran Permai.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Arjunaidi Mohamed had said the five were believed to be working in the forwarding and logistics field while the motive for the incident was believed to be Customs-related.

The Customs officer worked at Port Klang and had reported that his personal Proton X70 was splashed with paint on Nov 16.

He then sent the car to have the paint removed and cleaned on the day the car was set on fire.
