KOTA KINABALU: The body of a 14-year-old girl who drowned near Sandakan was retrieved at noon on Friday (Nov 26).
Villagers found her remains at 12.18pm, 400m from where a boat capsized on Thursday (Nov 25) night, said a Sabah Fire and Rescue Department spokesman.
"Our team has handed over the victim's remains to the police for further action and the search operation officially ended at 1pm," said the spokesman.
On Thursday, a boat carrying four passengers capsized at around 6pm while it was on its way from Kampung Senawang Laut to Kg Senawang Darat.
Passengers were thrown into the water and three were rescued by the villagers but the teenage girl could not be found.
