A 25-year-old man was fatally shot Thursday in the Kenilworth neighborhood of Northeast Washington, according to D.C. police.

       Authorities identified the victim as Lavonte McCloud of Northeast Washington.

       Police said the shooting occurred shortly after 9:30 p.m. in the 1600 block of Kenilworth Avenue NE, in a neighborhood just off the Anacostia Freeway and near the Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens.

       In a statement, police said McCloud was taken to a hospital, where he died. No arrests have been made, and police said they were looking for a white Jeep Grand Cherokee with tinted windows and D.C. license plates.

       No additional details were provided.
