She will spend Christmas behind bars after being jailed at York Magistrates Court.
Smith, who said she lived on a caravan site in Hull, East Yorks., pleaded guilty to theft.
But despite being caged before she still looked shocked on her bizarre mugshot, prompting online wags to mock her.
Vicki Louise asked: "Why does she look so shocked?"
Joseph Kennedy-Pinnock said: "Looks like she still caught by surprise."
One wag quipped: "Not sure why she looks so surprised. She'd just come out of prison."
Martin Butterworth, prosecuting, said she had only been released from jail a couple of weeks ago for breaching a court order imposed for a previous offence.

After police arrested her, she claimed she had gone into a department store in York city centre with the intention of doing some Christmas shopping.
But once inside she realised she'd left her credit card in the car and went out to get it, taking the shopping she hadn't paid for.
District judge Adrian Lower jailed Smith for 16 weeks and told her: "I don't believe for one moment that your credit card was in the car.
"If it was, you would have taken it with you into the shop.
"You deliberately came to York to steal. It was just dishonesty and it is travelling here to be dishonest in York."
