The office of the DuPage County Clerk of the Circuit Court said Wednesday a Hinsdale resident charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on Nov. 23 is an associate judge for the Cook County Circuit Court.
Mohammed M. Ghouse, 47, presides over criminal matters in the Bridgeview courthouse, according to the Illinois Circuit Court of Cook County website. The division handles a variety of misdemeanors, including DUI charges, in the fifth municipal district.
Hinsdale police said in a release Ghouse was arrested at 8:34 p.m. on Nov. 23 in the 700 block of South Garfield Avenue on charges of driving under the influence _ alcohol and failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash. Police said they were dispatched to a property damage report in the roadway and found a white 2021 Audi Q5 with heavy front right damage and both side air bags deployed.
Responding officers said a lime green 2021 Chevrolet Express Van was stopped in between the roadway and parkway in front of the Audi with rear right damage and flashing hazard lights.
The driver of the Chevrolet told police he parked the car in front of 714 South Garfield Avenue approximately 10 minutes prior to the crash and he and his passengers saw the Audi strike the rear of his car. He told police he believed the driver of the Audi was drinking and pointed to Ghouse and identified him as the driver.
According to a police report obtained by Pioneer Press, the officer asked Ghouse to complete field sobriety tests. Ghouse replied that he was a Cook County Judge and refused. Arrest reports indicate that officers smelled a “strong odor of alcoholic liquor” on his breath.
Ghouse was charged and released on bond to appear in court, police said. He could not be reached for comment at this time.
