VETERAN actor and martial artist Sammo Hung, who will be appearing in the film Kowloon Walled City, joked that he was only returning to the silver screen because he had run out of money, reported Sin Chew Daily.

“No money! The most important thing is the production team who is willing to give me money!” the 69-year-old quipped during the first day of the shoot.

Hung, who has taken fewer acting roles in recent years, said he was moved by the fact that the film was set entirely in Hong Kong and would feature an all-Hong Kong cast.

Feeling that this was an opportunity not to be missed, he decided to take on a role in the movie.

The film, which is a live action adaptation of the popular Hong Kong comic book City of Darkness, stars other big names such as Louis Koo, Raymond Lam, Richie Jen, Kenny Wong and Terrance Lau.

The story takes place in the 1980s in Hong Kong’s infamous walled city, which was demolished in 1993.

       > The daily also reported that Taiwanese supermodel Lin Chi-ling is rumoured to be pregnant after making a cryptic post thanking her mother on social media.

“Thank you, my mother, thank you, life. Grateful for every heart; grateful for every miracle,” the 47-year-old wrote on her birthday on Nov 29.

Accompanying the post was a picture of Lin dressed in white as she gazes into the horizon.

The post prompted fans to speculate that Lin, who has been married for two years to Japanese boy band member Akira, is pregnant.

“Does this mean we can expect to hear some good news in the near future?” a fan asked.

       > A man in China was arrested five times over three days after being mistaken as North Korean fugitive Zhu Xianjian, to whom he bears an uncanny resemblance, reported Sin Chew Daily.

Police received multiple reports of the man after he was spotted in Baicheng city in the Jilin province.

The man was reportedly detained and released by the police five times over the next three days.

When photos of the man were shared on social media, Internet users remarked that he was the spitting image of Zhu, who has a bounty of 700,000 yuan (RM461,788) on his head.

“Even if he is not worth a bounty of 700,000 yuan, he must be worth at least 650,000 yuan (RM395,819),” an Internet user quipped.

Zhu, who has been on the run for over a month after escaping from prison in Jilin, was recaptured on Sunday morning.

He was sent to prison in 2013 after being convicted of illegal entry into China, larceny and robbery.
