A tunnel covered in some 400,000 LEDs is seen in the Hokkaido spa resort town of Toyako on Nov. 24, 2021. Close to the center of the about 70-meter-long tunnel is a domed area of some 9 meters in diameter with 3D artwork spelling "TOYA." The annual illumination event began in 2007, and is now well-known among visitors to the central spa area on Lake Toya's south shore. A representative for the exhibit organizers, the Toyako Onsen Tourist Association, said, "We have the Long Run Fireworks Festival from spring through autumn, and the tunnel in winter. We want to attract tourists with events they can enjoy year-round." The tunnel will be lit from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. daily until the end of March 2022.
