TOKYO -- A nationwide manhunt is underway in Japan for a 24-year-old man over the assault and death of a man in the Kabukicho area of Tokyo's Shinjuku Ward, police announced Dec. 2.
The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD)'s First Investigation Division has obtained an arrest warrant for suspect Aoi Kametani, of unknown address and occupation, on suspicion of fatally assaulting Akira Ujiie.
Ujiie, 43, also of unknown address and occupation, was assaulted on Nov. 27 on the rooftop of a multi-tenant building in Kabukicho, and died after suffering broken bones including in his chest. On the following day, the metropolitan police arrested Juki Sekiguchi, 26, whose address and occupation are unknown, and two 18-year-old men on suspicion of inflicting injury causing death.
According to the MPD, Kametani is about 175 centimeters tall and is of medium build. If anyone has any information on the case, please call the Shinjuku Police Station at 03-3346-0110 (in Japanese).
