Slight snow showers may mark its presence across central and eastern England on Friday morning, weather experts have said. While there are no warnings issued by the Met Office for the coming weekend, the biting cold conditions may continue over the weekend.

Steven Keates, Media Advisor and Marine Meteorologist at the Met Office told Express.co.uk: “It’s fairly typical early December weather for the next few days-generally quite cold, with a bit of snow around.

"Snowfall can be seen mainly over the higher ground for the most part and is unlikely to cause too many problems."

The forecast released by the Met Office for Friday stated “the mercury is set to plummet over the coming days.”

Meteorological experts believe that the weather front coming in from the west on Monday may have a transient snow risk.

The latest weather maps shared by WXcharts.com hinted 12cm of snow could fall on Monday triggered by the freezing air.

On Saturday morning, 9cm of snow is set to fall in Eastern Scotland, with 5cm in the North West region of England and 4cm in the centre of the country.

While snowfall may not cause any trouble for commuters, experts believe that some parts across east Anglia/south east England may witness a light slush.

Mr Keates said: “We are not really expecting any issues for the morning commute, but don’t be surprised to run into a bit of sleet or wet snow on the commute across East Anglia/SE England

“There is a scope for some snow across central/eastern England this morning, maybe the odd cm on the grass, but it looks short-lived and may soon turn back to rain.

“Some snow over the mountains in the north, maybe as far south as Wales, from the showers on Saturday.”

In an update on Twitter, the Met office forecast a milder start to Friday.

It read: “A mild start to #FridayMorning for southern areas of the UK, but also a cloudy and wet one as #rain clears south east.
