PETALING JAYA: In light of the Omicron variant detected in Malaysia, the Health Ministry will tighten the standard operating procedure (SOP) for the Sarawak election.
Its Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said the election SOPs for Sarawak was almost complete.
"The Ministry is refining one or two things before presenting it to the Election Commission.
"But with the new developments it has to be taken into consideration so that the SOP that will be presented to the EC will have to be tighter to ensure that there is no spread of the virus during the election," he said during a press conference on Friday (Dec 3).
The Sarawak election will be held on Dec 18 with Nomination Day on Dec 6, and early voting on Dec 14.
