Downing Street RAVE planned as 170,000 could descend on Boris’ home in protest

The event was set up on Facebook and named: ‘CHRISTMAS RAVE – 10 Downing Street’. Some of the headliners listed in the Facebook event include the Prime Minister and his “chums”. The page says "No social distancing required," adding: "Bring Who you like. Bring your own Nibbles and drink."

If the group on Facebook is anything to go by, the numbers attending could be mammoth – with 170,000 people clicked going, and a further 231,000 people clicked interested.

This event comes after reports suggested that a gathering was held in Downing Street while most of the nation was in lockdown last year.

Although the official Downing Street party was cancelled, an unofficial one reportedly took place on December 18.

Party games, secret Santa, as well as cheese and wine were all served at the event, according to reports.

Allegra Stratton, the Prime Minister’s then-spokesperson, has stepped down after a video emerged of her appearing to laugh about the Christmas event.

But members of the Government have been defiant against suggestions rules were broken – with Sajid Javid saying there would have been social-distancing if the event did take place.

The Health Secretary said: "I didn’t attend, I don’t know who attended these parties, but I don’t even think there were parties that I’m aware of.

"But the point is, whether it’s in Number 10 or any government department, all rules would have been followed at all times. I don’t think there’s anything there."

During PMQ’s on Wednesday, the Prime Minister apologised to the public – despite saying that no rules were broken.

He said: "I was also furious to see that clip.

“I apologise unreservedly for the offence that it gave up and down the country.

"I understand and share the anger [at seeing No 10 staff seeming to] make light of lockdown measures."

But the leader of the opposition, Keir Starmer, put Boris Johnson through his paces during the questioning.

In his challenging questions, Sir Keir hounded the PM on the numerous denials that the party took place.

He added he thought "millions of people now think the prime minister was taking them for fools and they were lied to".
