In an interview that aired on Wednesday, Former US President Donald Trump said Boris Johnson had become increasingly socialist, adding that he was "not sure that people are loving it." Mr Trump was mainly referring to Mr Johnson's environmental policies. This comes just a month after world leaders met in Glasgow as part of a last-ditch effort to keep the target of limiting global warming to 1.5C alive.

       Speaking at the COP26 climate summit, the Prime Minister warned: “It’s one minute to midnight on that doomsday clock and we need to act now."

       Interviewing Mr Trump, conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt asked about Johnson's ability to recover from the current political crisis, saying: “Boris is in big trouble because they had a Christmas party at Number 10 last year while Boris cancelled Christmas.

       "Do you think he survives this?”

       This comes as Mr Johnson faces calls to resign over a leaked video of Downing Street aides joking about an alleged Christmas Party at Downing Street last year, while the rest of the country was in lockdown.

       Responding to the question, the former US President said: “Well, I don’t know if he actually cancelled Christmas.

       “I know Boris very well, but he has seemed to have gone further left.

       "And his whole stance on the environment has changed quite a bit.”

       After two weeks of negotiations at COP26 the Government - along with the leaders of almost 200 countries - signed the Glasgow Pact, which requires countries to phase out "inefficient fossil fuel subsidies".

       Mr Trump went on to say that he was “not sure that people are loving it” in the UK.

       But he added that he personally “always had a good relationship with” the Prime Minister.

       Mr Trump also spoke about the simmering row between Mr Johnson and Nigel Farage.

       However, when asked about the row by Mr Hewitt, Mr Trump declined to take sides.

       He said: “[Y]ou know, what am I going to do?

       “It’s one of the few cases, I get along with both of them, Hugh.

       "You know, I get along with both of them.”

       The row stemmed from Mr Farage's opposition to "illegal" channel crossings, with the former politician arguing that Mr Johnson only paid lip service to the issue in the Brexit referendum and 2019 general election to get votes, branding their concern "utterly insincere".

       He said: "The majority of Leave voters, the vast majority of Conservative voters see [immigration] as an absolutely defining issue and he hasn't got a clue how to do this.

       "I think there are millions of people now who literally would not vote.

       "The Corbyn bogeyman has gone.

       "It is difficult to see how Starmer could be worse."
