The body of a woman was recovered from Lake Michigan Friday afternoon on the North Side.
Shortly after 1 p.m., crews from the Chicago Fire Department responded to a report of a person seen close to shore but unresponsive in the water off the 5400 block of North Lake Shore Drive, according to Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford.
The age of the unidentified woman, who was dead on the scene, was not known immediately, said Officer Steve Rusanov, a spokesman for the Chicago police.
Area 3 detectives are investigating.
