KANGAR: The search and rescue operation for the second victim of the incident where a sampan collided with a boat near Tok Kuning Jetty here was called off after the fisherman's body was found at 3.27pm on Saturday (Dec 11).

       Kangar district police chief Supt Wari Kiew said the body of Abdul Rashid Md Derus, 45, was found in the Denai Larian area, Sungai Perlis, Pengkalan Asam about five kilometres from Tok Kuning Jetty.

       "The victim's body was found floating in the area and taken to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital, Alor Setar for a post-mortem," he told reporters here today.

       Earlier this morning, the body of another victim involved in the incident, Mohd Faizal Hisham, 39, was found at about 7.46am, less than 20m from the scene.

       The two fishermen were previously feared to have drowned after the sampan they were travelling in collided with a boat in an incident at about 10pm on Thursday (Dec 9). - Bernama
