MELAKA: A 41-year-old female silat trainee landed herself in hot water after attempting to show-off her skills by using a cache of weapons and making it viral on TikTok.
Melaka Tengah OCPD Asst Comm Christopher Patit said the woman, a Sabahan, was arrested along with her 45-year-old male instructor.
He said the arrest was made at the island of Pulau Besar on Thursday (Dec 9) during a joint operation with health authorities to check on the compliance of standard operating procedures (SOP).
“Preliminary probe showed that the female suspect wanted to upload her videos showing her skills on TikTok by using the weapons,” he said on Saturday (Dec 11).
ACP Patit said the police confiscated five keris, two machetes and a sword from the duo.
He said there were three other individuals including a woman, aged between 20 and 45 at the scene, but they were released after their statements were recorded.
ACP Christopher said the two are now being investigated under Section 6 of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapon Act 1958.
