'Rat has his fall guys lined up' Cummings outlines Boris' major plan to keep his job

As Mr Johnson continues to be plagued by questions over whether he and No10 staff broke lockdown rules, his former advisor claimed the Prime Minister has his "fall guys lined up". In a tweet, Mr Cummings said: "Notice shift to 'I' didn't break rules. "The rat has his fall guys lined up, will promise a return to No10 in future in return for omerta over flat/illegal donations/Geidt."

This comes as the Prime Minister was personally accused of breaking Covid restrictions by hosting a Christmas quiz in No10 last year.

A picture showed the Prime Minister sitting in front of a picture of Margaret Thatcher on a virtual call.

According to the Daily Mirror, staff huddled by computers and drank wine, champagne and beer.

One insider said there were four teams, each made up of six members.

According to the paper, the quiz was held on December 15, when London was under Tier 2 regulations, which banned social mixing between households.

Official guidance also stated: “You must not have a work Christmas lunch or party, where that is a primarily social activity and is not otherwise permitted by the rules in your tier.”

Mr Johnson has denied any wrongdoing and claimed the event would be investigated by Cabinet Secretary, Simon Case.

A Downing Street spokesman also claimed the Prime Minister had attended briefly to thank staff for their work.

Speaking on Monday, the Prime Minister said: "I can tell you once again that I certainly broke no rules.

"All that is being looked into.

"Of course all that must be properly got into and you will be hearing from the cabinet secretary about it all."

He said the Cabinet Secretary will be investigating, adding: "He's looking at all these things.

"We will report back on all that. I certainly broke no rules and we will report back as soon as we reasonably can."

As well as the December 15 quiz, there have been claims multiple parties or gatherings were held in Whitehall and No10 in November and December last year.

As reported by ITV, a video showed then press secretary, Allegra Stratton, rehearsing questions over an alleged party on December 18.

She has since resigned from her post.

Mr Case is also investigating whether another party was held for former No10 aide, Cleo Watson on December 10.

It has been reported staff held a gathering where drinks and snacks were brought by those who attended on November 27.
