Sir Keir Starmer branded Boris Johnson as "so weak" as he vented his fury on Sky News following revelations that the Prime Minister broke COVID-19 rules to host a Downing Street quiz when the rest of the country were ordered to not mix with other households.

Pictures released by the Daily Mirror show how Mr Johnson sat maskless and in close proximity with two aides as he played quizmaster for staffers during tier three restrictions.

The pictures are the latest in an ongoing stream of scandal which has rocked Downing Street over the past two weeks as allegations of up to eight COVID smashing bashes took place across the Westminster estate in November and December last year.

Meanwhile footage obtained by ITV showed Mr Johnson's former spokeswoman Allegra Stratton laughing during a mock press conference after being asked about one such party. She resigned on Wednesday following the leak.

Speaking on Sunday, the Labour leader accused Prime Minister as having ”lost the authority to lead” Britain amid the ongoing scandals.

As well as saying how weak Mr Johnson is as a leader, he also suggested the Conservative party are “so divided”.

Sir Keir slammed: “He can’t provide the leadership we need at this crucial time.

“He is the worst possible leader at the worst possible time!”

Asked whether Mr Johnson should resign, Sir Keir admitted he wished he could “just snap my fingers” and make that happen.

The Labour leader went on to claim “he won’t” resign despite the stacked up scandals.

Sir Keir went on to address Plan B COVID measures that he said needed to be put in place imminently.

He repeated Labour’s intentions to back the Government in bringing in fresh restrictions, which include the roll out of vaccine passports for large venues, on Tuesday.

He said how Labour “know it is in the public interest” to vote through the tough new measures which will has also seen the return of compulsory mask wearing indoors.

Boris Johnson will address the nation at 8pm to discuss the spread of the Omicron variant.
