The Labour Mayor of London has been attacked over the running of the capital's transport network. Conservative London Assembly member Tony Devenish told BBC London Politics that Sadiq Khan is a "weak mayor" who is failing to tackle the problems with TFL. He added that the mayor needed to "grow up" and deal with the issues of funding and staffing which has seen transport unions threaten commuters with Christmas strike action.

       Mr Devenish told BBC London Politics: "He is a very weak mayor.

       "He needs to grow up and do his job."

       He added: "Khan has to grow up."

       Conservative London Assembly member added he supported new spending projects TFL such as new lines to the suburb of Thamesmead and other schemes across London.

       However, Mr Devenish accused Sadiq Khan of "playing politics" over TFL spending.

       He told the programme: "The reality is though we've got a ridiculous poker game going on.

       "Sadiq Khan is playing politics, as you say he's already had 4 billion pounds of taxpayers money.

       "And the Minister of London has already confirmed this week, there's another several 100 million pounds of money he can have again this month.

       "But he won't do what he agreed in writing in the last bailout, which was by mid-November to come up with a plan.

       "He is chairman of Transport for London, he is the mayor of London and he's completely failed to do his job and a lot of the daft things he said such as a tube line is going to be shut.

       "The reality is the unions are going mad, We're having strikes in London."

       It comes as members of the Rail, Maritime, and Transport (RMT) union announced a planned walkout on the Central and Victoria lines for eight hours from Friday and Saturday evening.
