TANGKAK: The Marine Police have arrested three local men for illegally processing liquor during a raid at a premise in Kampung Teratai near Bukit Serampang here.
Its Region 2 deputy commander Supt Noor Azman Jamal said that his men also seized liquor worth RM49,049 during the raid carried out at around 2am on Monday (Dec 13) morning following public information.
"We arrested three adult men between the ages of 18 and 32 years and seized 468.92 litres of liquor, which we suspected of not having customs duty.
"The other items that were seized included tools to process the liquor and a multi-purpose vehicle used by the suspects to distribute the contraband," he said, here, on Tuesday (Dec 14).
Supt Noor Azman added the estimated value of the seized items were at RM76,049 which were, along with the suspects, brought to the Tangkak police headquarters for further action.
He said the case was being investigated under Section 135 of the Customs Act 1967, the Excise Act 1976 and the Law Reform Act (elimination of illegal liquor).
