PUTRAJAYA: The Langkawi Domestic Travel Bubble pilot project is considered a success, according to a survey conducted by Tourism Malaysia involving 1,005 respondents.

Tourism Malaysia, in a statement Tuesday (Dec 14), said a majority of the respondents were satisfied with their trips and had a high level of confidence to travel following the enforcement of standard operating procedures (SOP) to curb the Covid-19 pandemic.

"The need to undergo Covid-19 screening test and the complete vaccination requirement have increased visitors’ confidence in keeping them safe while travelling,” the statement read.

The survey by Tourism Malaysia’s Strategic Planning Division was conducted in Langkawi from Sept 30 until Oct 6 this year in conjunction with the reopening of the resort island to domestic tourists from Sept 16.

It gauged the level of satisfaction during the trip, on the quality of services (accommodation, tour operators and airlines) as well as the level of confidence in Covid-19-related aspects such as health and safety.

Tourism Malaysia said the survey found that a majority of respondents travelled just to avoid being stuck at home and preferred to unwind in Langkawi.

The survey also found that the respondents were interested in travelling within the country with resort islands such as Pulau Redang and Pulau Perhentian being their choice of destinations once the travel restrictions were lifted. - Bernama
