       A GROUP of students and teachers from the Sepang Vocational College (KVS) took the initiative to repurpose old computers as library decorations, Berita Harian reported.

       KVS library and media teacher Mohd Syukur Sahim said the idea came about when they saw a number of old computers and hardware stored at the college library.

       He said all the items could no longer be used and had to be disposed of.

       “So we figured out ways not to throw away these gadgets.

       “We sought approval, injected some creativity and use the items to decorate the premises,” he said.

       Mohd Syukur said they renamed one corner in the library #Malaysiamembaca Station and decorated it with the repurposed hardware.

       Among the items were an old computer monitor that was modified as a magazine and newspaper rack, and computer mice that were used as pen holders.

       “We also used pallets as seats at the #Malaysiamembaca Station apart from patchwork and discarded boards,” he said, adding that the project took them just two days to complete.

       Their creativity won them third place in the Sepang district 2019 Used Products Design Competi- tion.

       Mohd Syukur added that such group activities also received support and encouragement from the KVS director Supian Abdul Kadir who was supportive of the creative and innovative younger generation.
