KUCHING: After falling into a manhole in Padungan, Sarawak People’s Aspiration Party (Aspirasi) president Lina Soo (pic) wants her opponent in the ongoing state polls to repair all manholes in the city.

The Aspirasi candidate for the state seat said that her opponent, Gabungan Parti Sarawak's Datuk Wee Hong Seng should make fixing the matter a priority as damaged manholes pose a danger to the public.

She said in a post on her official Facebook account on Wednesday (Dec 15) that she was putting up party flags along Tabuan Road at midnight when she fell into a broken manhole on a pedestrian walkway.

"There was a huge gap across the grated manhole cover which was left unrepaired. This is a grave danger for pedestrians and could cause not only injury but death, especially if elderly people fall into these manholes," she warned.

Soo, who suffered from slight injuries and bruises said she would seek medical attention but will continue with campaign work in the run-up to the polling day on Saturday (December 18).

Aside from Soo and Wong, Padungan is being contested by two other parties namely DAP which had fielded its state chairman Chong Chieng Jen and Parti Bumi Kenyalang whose candidate was Raymond Thong.
