IPOH: The police are always ready for any possibility although talk about militants plotting an invasion of Sabah is not true, says Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim.
He said he had ordered members of the police force to work as usual but be alert for any possibility.
“From the information we received, no such invasion is going to take place,” he said after visiting the Perak police contingent headquarters here yesterday.
Last Saturday, Internal Security and Public Order Department director Datuk Hazani Ghazali dispelled talk that the Sulu militia was plotting the invasion of Sabah.
He said a meeting of officials from that region had indeed taken place, but it was focused on talks about local security issues and investment.Mazlan was asked to comment on a South China Morning Post report on a secret meeting of 19 mayors in Sulu to discuss recruiting 600 militias for a “Royal Army” to invade Sabah.
