Brexit minister Lord Frost is expected to tell his EU counterpart Maros Sefcovic today that the UK accepts the European Court of Justice (ECJ) will have a role in the protocol.

       The move is a major shift from Britain's previous position and comes as Brussels is set to announce proposals to ensure medicines can continue to flow unimpeded from Great Britain into Northern Ireland.

       The Times reported that Lord Frost will also tell Mr Sefcovic the UK will accept a "staged" process with separate deals on different aspects of the protocol rather than addressing it all at once.
