Two more charged in PD with abduction and murder of technician

       PORT DICKSON: Two more suspects have been charged at a Magistrate's Court here with the kidnap-murder of a 39-year-old technician.

       No plea was recorded from security supervisor A. Devadas, 41, and lorry driver Xavier Peter, 42, after the charges were read to them before Magistrate V. Vanita on Friday (Dec 17).

       The duo were jointly charged with another individual still at large with committing the offences between 5.40am and 9.45am on Nov 13 at a house in Bandar Springhill.

       They were charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code read together with Section 34 of the same legislation for the murder which carries the mandatory death penalty upon conviction.

       The suspects were also charged under Section 364 of the Penal Code with kidnapping the victim, an offence which also carries the death penalty or imprisonment of up to 30 years and whipping.

       The duo were slapped with a third charge under Section 170 of the Penal Code for impersonating policemen when committing the crimes.

       Vanita then fixed Jan 27 for next mention and ordered that the suspects be sent to Jelebu prison.

       The accused were represented by Sukhdev Singh while Fatin Nur Athirah Zainudin prosecuted.

       On Nov 23, chief security officer M. Murugan, 44, and 43-year-old unemployed Wong Yon Kuan, 43, were also charged with the same offences in the same court.

       Their case will come up for next mention on Dec 23.

       According to the facts of the case, the victim was abducted from his house by several men claiming to be police in the early hours of Nov 13. He was declared dead at the Selayang Hospital about four hours later.

       Port Dickson OCPD Supt Aidi Sham Mohamed had said preliminary police investigations revealed that several individuals wearing yellow vests arrived at the victim's family home at around 5.40am on the day of the incident in a white van with the word "Polis" on the door.

       They reportedly forced their way in and claimed to be investigating a robbery.

       They assaulted the victim and took him away, and his wife then lodged a police report, Supt Aidi Sham had said.

       A post-mortem on the deceased showed that the cause of death was blunt trauma to the head.
