Kate dazzled in red in a teaser clip released by ITV, which is to broadcast the Duchess' Christmas carol service next week. In the clip, Kate candidly voiced her excitement ahead of the hour-long special programme.

She said: "I'm so excited to be hosting Together At Christmas here at Westminster Abbey."

The Christmas carol concert took place on Wednesday, December 8, but was filmed to be aired on TV on Christmas Eve at 7.30pm.

At the event, Kate looked stunning in a red Catherine Walker dress and matching accessories.

But to record the brief teaser, she chose to be particularly festive in a collared and rose-printed Miu Miu cardigan.

The promo also shows some of the A-listers who attended the festive night, including Kate Garraway, Tom Walker, Ellie Goulding and Leona Lewis.

Upon sharing the teaser, ITV said: "Hosted and spearheaded by The Duchess, and supported by The Royal Foundation, the event will pay tribute to the incredible work of individuals and organisations across the UK who have supported their communities through the COVID-19 pandemic."

With this special event, Kate wanted to pay tribute to the unsung heroes of the pandemic who helped their neighbours, family and community during the difficult months of lockdown and beyond.

Among the 1200 guests, there were Mila Sneddon and her close relatives, who deeply impressed the Duchess for bravely deciding to split their family in two to shield the young child from COVID-19 while she was undergoing treatment for leukaemia.

The event also stressed the importance of being together, in particular over Christmas - something many people could not do last year due to the Covid crisis.

In a poignant message published in the programme for the event, Kate wrote: "The COVID-19 pandemic has presented us all with countless and previously unimaginable challenges.

"We have lost loved ones, seen our frontline workers placed under immeasurable pressure, and we have experienced heart-wrenching isolation from those we hold most dear.

"Alongside this, we have seen how communities have come together to support those most in need.

"And through our separation from others, we have been reminded just how powerful human connection is to us all.

"Just how much we need one another. And how loving and feeling a sense of belonging to one another can provide comfort in tough times. The importance of simply being together."

On the night it was recorded, Kate was supported by her beloved parents Michael and Carole Middleton, and siblings Pippa and James, who were all in attendance.

Many royals also showed up, including Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie and Zara and Mike Tindall.

The cheerful event took place following reports of a major row between the royals and the BBC in the wake of the broadcaster's two-part documentary The Princes and The Press, which included a claim Kensington Palace and Clarence House had "briefed" the media against the Duchess of Sussex.

The BBC reportedly angered the royal households, who issued a rare joint statement as a response to the programme, not just for reporting some damaging claims but also for not being given the chance to view the documentary before its broadcast.

The royals' joint statement read: "A free, responsible and open press is of vital importance to a healthy democracy.

"However, too often overblown and unfounded claims from unnamed sources are presented as facts and it is disappointing when anyone, including the BBC, gives them credibility."

Reports dating back to November claimed the Cambridges, amid fury over the documentary, had barred the public-funded broadcaster from airing Kate's carol concert, which was then offered to ITV.

The palace did not comment on this claim at the time.

The Together at Christmas special was developed and delivered in partnership with Westminster Abbey and BBC Studios Event Productions.

However, it isn't unusual for these studios to create programmes for other broadcasters - as it happened in 2019 when they produced a two-part documentary on Prince Charles and the Duchy of Cornwall for ITV.
