KLANG: Non-stop rain has caused Jalan Meru in Klang to become flooded
A video posted on the Malaysian Chinese News Facebook page on Saturday (Dec 18) shows vehicles stuck along the centre divider on the road, some almost completely submerged.
The rain which began on Friday (Dec 17) has caused many parts of Klang to become flooded with waist-high waters in some areas.
On Saturday, over 1,000 people were displaced due to the prolonged rain and flooding.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis said 1,011 people had to be evacuated because of floods.
"As of 7am on Saturday, we have opened three evacuation centres at Sekolah Kebangsaan Telok Gong, Masjid Al-Islah and Masjid Al-Ubudiah here.
"At the school, 681 victims are seeking temporary shelter while 256 victims were sent to Masjid Al-Islah and 74 victims to Masjid Al-Ubudiah," he said when contacted.
