PETALING JAYA: Police have detained the driver of the trailer lorry involved in the crash at Elite Expressway which killed 10 people.

       Bernama reported on Saturday (Dec 18) that the driver has been detained to facilitate investigations.

       It was reported earlier that eight children were among 10 victims who died after they were crushed in a multi-vehicle accident along the Elite Highway near the USJ lay-by late Friday (Dec 17) night.

       A crane had to be dispatched to the scene to lift the trailer off one of the crushed vehicles.

       Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis was quoted as saying the accident occurred at 11.42pm.

       A fire engine and six personnel were initially dispatched to the scene.
