KUCHING: Caretaker chief minister Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has won the Gedong seat.
The Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) chairman won with a handsome majority of 3,607 votes.
This is his first time contesting in Gedong after serving in Satok since 1981.
He was in a four-cornered fight with Parti Sarawak Bersatu’s Mohamad Sofian Fariz Sharbini, Parti Bumi Kenyalang candidate Tomson Ango and Amanah’s Cikgu Kamal.
Meanwhile, GPS candidate Datuk Snowdan Lawan has retained Balai Ringin, polling 4,816 votes over Datuk Masir Kujat of Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) (3,531) and Parti Bumi Kenyalang’s Kasim Mana (195).
