IPOH: Several areas in Muallim have been hit by floods following heavy rain since Friday (Dec 17).
Muallim OCPD Supt Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman said the continuous rain until Sunday (Dec 19) had affected seven areas in the district.
However, no evacuations have been made so far, he added.
The seven areas being monitored by the authorities are Kampung Kuala Slim, Kampung Balun, Pekan Behrang Stesen, Jalan Behrang-Selisek, Jalan Sg Lembing, Kampung Rasau and KM89 of the Ipoh-Kuala Lumpur road.
“The police and other agencies are on standby, constantly monitoring, and patrolling the areas.
“I have 54 officers and personnel to patrol and monitor the flooded areas,” he said.
Supt Sulizmie Affendy said the flood situation in the district is under control at the moment, and urged the public not to panic.
He urged the people to be careful, stay alert, and always follow the advice and instructions from the agencies concerned.
“I have also instructed my men to patrol the areas involved to ensure no thefts or fatal accidents occur,” he added.
