MEAT-loving civic chiefs have got the wind up over a ruling that all meals served at official functions and feasts must be vegan.
Turkey and beef are out while sprouts and carrots are in for future events and meetings after the decision by an alliance of Lib Dems and Greens.

It is believed that the move makes Oxfordshire the first county council in England to vote through a policy to feed councillors and guests on solely plant-based food.
The directive will apply to formal banquets and the meals which are provided to the council six times a year.
Tory councillor David Bartholomew blasted the decision and said that people should get a choice of grub in the council building.
He said “The Conservative opposition believes veganism is a choice that should be respected but it is not something that should be rammed down the throats of vegetarians and meat-eaters and that, ironically, a carrot not a stick approach should be employed.”
Independent Stefan Gawrysiak said: “For the council to actually force all catering to become plant-based is wrong.”
Ian Middleton, the vegan Green Party councillor who put forward the motion, said the government was encouraging people to eat less meat to help tackle climate change.
He said: “We should be embracing the opportunity to set an example and send the message out. It’s a pretty -modest sacrifice for the sake of future generations.
“Councillors who don’t want to eat it don’t have to eat in the council chamber.”
