KOTA KINABALU: Sabah recorded 122 new Covid-19 positive cases, its lowest in the last seven months.

State Covid-19 spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said the daily cases dropped significantly for the first time since May with most of the state’s 27 districts reporting single-digit figures. He said Ranau had the most cases with 21, followed by Kota Belud (19), Kota Kinabalu (19) and neighbouring Tuaran district (16).

He noted that eight districts recorded zero new cases while the rest of the districts recorded single digits. There were no new clusters recorded yesterday.

Of the new cases, 118 suffered mild symptoms and were in Category 1 and 2, two under Category 3 and 5 while the remaining were still under further assessment.

Meanwhile, Masidi said the state government would allow house-to-house visits for Christmas and New Year celebrations, with the requirement for all to be fully vaccinated and for each visit not to exceed three hours.

House owners are also required to sanitise their places between visits and set up a MySejahtera QR code for visitors to scan in.

Under the SOP, he said visitors should wear face masks when not eating and practise physical distancing, as well as maintain a 50% capacity.

Children under 12 are only allowed for the visits with fully vaccinated family members.

Masidi said that no religious or physical contact activities are allowed during visits.

The SOP for Christmas celebrations at churches and houses of worship will be from 7am till 11.30pm. Prayers are limited to two hours with a 30-minute interval.
