KUALA LUMPUR: A Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) employee and his wife are among three people detained in connection with trafficking in drugs.
Police also seized some 5kg of ganja worth almost RM10,000.
Wangsa Maju OCPD Supt Ashari Abu Samah said the 42-year-old man was detained at Kampung Bandar Setapak at about 6.45pm on Dec 17.
“We found two blocks of ganja weighing 2kg inside a sling bag,” he told a press conference at the Wangsa Maju police headquarters yesterday.
Further investigations led police to the man’s home in Pudu, where his 42-year-old wife was arrested, he added.
“We seized three more blocks of ganja weighing 3kg in the suspect’s bedroom.
“The last arrest was made at a restaurant in Kota Damansara at about 9pm on the same day. A 50-year-old believed to be the drug supplier was arrested,” he said.
Supt Ashari said the woman was detained as police believe she was in cahoots with her husband.
“We believe this syndicate has been active since last year.”
