KUALA LUMPUR: Construction company Gamuda Bhd posted a higher net profit of RM152.37 million in the first quarter ended Oct 31, 2021 (Q1 FY2022) from RM110.3 million a year ago.
Revenue slipped to RM747.11 million from RM763.95 million previously.
"The company’s earnings rose 38 per cent due to stronger earnings from all divisions as works on all fronts continued to pick up pace on the back of the company’s rigorous COVID-19 control measures,” it said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia today.
Moving forward, it said the company’s resilience is underpinned by its construction order book of RM3.8 billion and unbilled property sales totalling RM4.9 billion.
"On top of that, the company has a healthy balance sheet with a low gearing of 0.2 times and a strong cash position,” it said.
In a separate filing, Gamuda declared a first interim dividend of six sen per share for FY 2022. - Bernama
