KOTA KINABALU: Sabah recorded 108 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday (Dec 26), the lowest in recent months.
State Covid-19 spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said Ranau district recorded the highest number of new cases with 26 followed by neighbouring districts of Tuaran (16 cases), Kota Kinabalu (14 cases) and Penampang (10 cases).
Masidi reminded people to continuously observe the standard operating procedures during the year-end holiday season.
"We cannot stop people from going on their holidays, we can only advise them to observe SOP and other health safety advice," he said when asked about concerns over large holiday crowds in Ranau's Kundasang area.
Masidi said that apart from the four main districts that recorded double-digit cases, all other districts recorded single-digit figures while there were no new cases in nine other districts.
He said from the 108 new cases, a total of 104 were under categories 1 and 2 while the remaining were under three, four and five.
Masidi said that the infectious rate or RT (pronounced R-naught) number for the whole country is 0.88 and for Sabah 0.81.
"A lower RT rate is a benchmark of a declining and controlled transmission rate," he said, adding that there were no new clusters.
