PETALING JAYA: Bukit Aman is keeping a close watch on any attempts by loan sharks taking advantage of flood victims.
Its Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) director Comm Datuk Mohd Kamarudin Md Din said in a statement on Monday (Dec 27) that up till now, no police reports have been lodged on the matter.
“However the police do not (rule out) the possibility of syndicates attempting to approach flood victims.
"Based on intelligence gathered, several individuals from loan shark syndicates have been known to offer loans to victims.
“The public is advised to remain vigilant and not become victims,” he said.
Comm Mohd Kamarudin noted that syndicates could take advantage at times such as these, as flood recovery requires money.
“We urge the public to be our eyes and ears and forward any information on such commercial crimes to us,” he said.
