       Nearby one-bed flats in the posh West London area easily go for upwards of ￡1,000 making the place a bargain, if you're under four feet tall and don't mind skipping on a toilet.

       The "studio" apartment in Kensington doesn't appear to list any loo and the shower is squashed in between the front door and the tiny cooker, baffling prospective tenants.

       The bed is also best avoided for anyone of average to tall height as it is listed as being just four-foot long.

       The "kitchen" is equipped with a "cooker" which seems to be a microwave with two hobs on stuck on the top, placed on the draining board.

       But on the plus side, the flat is just a five-minute walk from West Kensington tube stop.

       Council tax is even included in the reasonable bill - something all flat-hunters on a budget will know is rare in the capital.

       Those lucky enough to own a home in the street will have seen the value of their property surge by 40 per cent in just a year.

       London is well-known for being particularly challenging for those without deep pockets.

       A double room in Finsbury, north of the city, is on the market for ￡700 a month, but the new tenant must enjoy plenty of company.

       But those who prefer their own space may want to skip a viewing - because they'll be sharing with more than 20 other people, as well as three cats.

       And even those with more cash to splash can face problems.

       A three-storey home in one of the capital's trendiest postcodes is on the market for just under ￡1million.

       The end-of-terrace property, just off Brick Lane in the East End, has plenty of space for its new owners.

       However, whoever takes on the mortgage will need to roll up their sleeves before moving the kids in as the house is in a state of total disrepair inside.

       The buyer is facing months of work - and parting with plenty of cash - to return it to a liveable condition.
